Description
As plants mature in the aquarium, older portions of plants deteriorate with age. Trimming can remove excess growth for a period of time, but eventually the old rooted portions of a plant no longer produce robust growth and the plant should replanted. By removing old growth and replanting new growth, we keep the salad bar perpetually fresh. A tank dominated with robust fresh growth not only looks better, but is much more algae resistant.
All plants have their life cycles of growth and deterioration. Slower growing plants in slow growing aquariums can be left to grow for months or years without disturbance. In high growth speed tanks, overcrowding and deterioration can set in quickly for fast growing species, and the renewal cycle needs to be done more frequently.
