TRIBAL WEAVING
Sometimes we dance from the same place, but tell very different stories.
This little film brings together six solos and two group pieces, created with my students from our Ukrainian tribal community. Each carries its own mood — a little tenderness, a little darkness, a quiet moment, a sudden fire.
We wanted to give these differences space. To let different tribal styles meet, and let each dancer be seen in her own way. As the pieces came together, we began to see the thread running through them all.
I remember the filming with so much warmth. Seeing my students bring their worlds into the room, watching them dance beside one another — there is something very moving about that.
