On 11-13 February 2026, to mark the launch of UCL's bicentennial celebrations, UCL’s iconic Wilkins Building and Quad were transformed into a dazzling Son et Lumière: an immersive experience brought to life with cutting-edge 3D projection mapping, light, music, storytelling and animation.
Thousands of people joined us in person and online from around the world for UCL Illuminated, to journey through 200 years of history, discovery and impact, projected onto the Wilkins building. They watched UCL’s story unfold from London's first university and a small community of intellectuals on the city’s edge to the global powerhouse of science, arts and humanities it is today.
This immersive sound and light spectacular has taken silver at the Heist Awards, which celebrates excellence, and recognises bold ideas and outstanding achievements that make a difference across the higher education sector.
