Description

Tropical Storm Bertha has made landfall in Louisiana. Early Thursday morning the storm was moving west toward Texas. The storm has been forecast to reach the upper Texas coast on Thursday before dissipating inland in Texas by Friday. Damaging winds and storm surges are the main threats for the Deep South states. The National Hurricane Center says a tropical storm warning includes New Orleans and Lake Pontchartrain. Storm surges up to 3 feet are possible, as well as heavy rain. The storm earlier forced beach closures in the Florida Panhandle and along the tips of Alabama and Mississippi.
