Raid bosses in World of Warcraft are usually predictable on paper. If an expansion spends months building up a villain, players generally assume that villain is eventually going to end up at the end of a raid instance. But every so often, Blizzard goes in a completely different direction. Sometimes a trusted ally suddenly becomes a boss encounter, sometimes a random side character gets elevated far beyond what anyone expected.
