Across releases for Ghostly International, Intergraded and his own Valby Rotary label, Tom VR has developed a sound that blends the immediacy of techno with detailed percussive edits and rich synth lines.

Core to his production workflow is one go-to synth: Korg's revived ARP Odyssey. We sat down with Tom in London to watch him build a track from scratch – with the ARP's bass and melodic lines at its centre – and talk about his workflow, go-to plugins and the importance of committing to ideas early.
