Description
Today I’m in Nonna’s kitchen to make Mixing Eggs, our family’s breakfast tradition. It’s sweet, it’s simple, and for me, it’s the taste of home.
When I was a kid, the sound of Nonna’s spoon clinking in the mug was my alarm clock. That creamy mix of yolks and sugar, hot milk poured over top, and a piece of slightly burnt buttered toast dipped right in… it’s a memory that has stayed with me forever.
Cooking this with her now is more than just a recipe. It is a reminder of the stories and love passed down with every dish.
✨ Here’s how Nonna makes it:
1️⃣ Beat 2 egg yolks with 2 tsp sugar until creamy.
2️⃣ Heat 1 cup milk (add espresso or coffee for an authentic taste).
3️⃣ Toast bread and butter it.
4️⃣ Pour the hot milk (and coffee if using) over the egg yolk and sugar mixture.
5️⃣ Dip the toast and enjoy.
🥚 Conestoga Farms’ eggs have naturally golden yolks thanks to their hens’ diet, which includes marigold extract, a natural source of lutein.
