Here i'm feeding my sourdough starter. I am presently working on a video showing how to make loaves of sourdough bread. It's really no secret. It takes time and effort, but well worth it. Sourdough toast with fresh butter and orange marmalade. In the morning. You'll think you've died and gone to heaven!
Directions:
Weigh out the amount of Sourdough Starter you want to feed then add the same amount of water then stir. Then and the same amount of Bread flour and stir. (1 to 1 to 1)
example: (50 grams starter, 50 grams water, 50 grams flour)
Stir and put into a glass jar with a loose fitting lid and refrigerate.
To make the starter: you will need
2 glass jars ( when I feed the starter I use the 2nd jar to put 50 grams of the mixture in and add the 50 grams of flour and 50 grams water. I switch jars that way every time I feed the starter. I throw away the rest. It is easier and neater than using the 1st jar for both.
Bread flour
filtered water
you do not need a scale to make starter but it help make the measurements more accurate. It may help you be more successful. Also, most breads are written in grams.
I will be making a video next week on how to make a starter. But remember It may take 2 weeks to get an active starter. AND It may not even work the time. Do not be discouraged though. I will work. I have been using my starter for almost year. Once you got it .. you got it.
