Description
Join Rob in Moab, Utah during the 60th Easter Jeep Safari for a closer look at one of the most nostalgic builds of the year — the Jeep XJ Pioneer Concept.
While we were hoping to catch this XJ out on the trails, things didn’t quite go as planned. Unfortunately, a broken driveshaft sidelined the Pioneer the day before, so we found it parked at the Jeep booth outside Walker Drug on Main Street instead. Not exactly the backdrop we expected—but honestly, it still delivered.
This concept is a throwback in all the right ways, blending classic Cherokee XJ styling with modern touches that make it feel fresh without losing its roots. Rob walks you through all the details, from the stance to the subtle design choices that make this build stand out among the 2026 concepts.
One of our favorite parts? Jeep outfitted the Pioneer with some familiar gear, including the Quadratec CJ Retro Alloy Wheels and Quadratec Tru-Fit Floor Liners—proving that even a concept build can benefit from tried-and-true upgrades.
Even though it missed trail action, this XJ still turned heads and sparked plenty of conversation. Sometimes, it’s not about where you see a Jeep—it’s about the story it brings with it.
👉 Be sure to check out the full lineup of concepts from this year’s Easter Jeep Safari and stay tuned for more trail coverage from Moab!
