Here's the trap most people fall into when learning to code or getting into AI engineering. You watch a roadmap video, then ten more, then read a blog post, and it feels like progress because you're busy, but you haven't written a single line of code. You cannot passively consume your way into software engineering or AI engineering.
The people who actually make the jump build things from day one. So pick projects and build stuff slightly beyond what you already know how to do, because that gap is what forces you to learn. Take an input, send it to a model, do something useful with it, build an app you'd actually use.
Watching gives you a fraction of the retention that building does, and that difference is everything.
