I sat down in Paris with perfumer Louise Turner, the nose behind Tom Ford Lost Cherry, Chloé Nomade and the new Chloé Atelier des Fleurs Cedrus de Nuit.
We start with the creation of Chloé Cedrus de Nuit and its nocturnal floral character, before getting into the much bigger questions: can a perfumer predict a bestseller, has fragrance become too obsessed with power and projection, and how did Lost Cherry become such an unexpected success?
Louise also talks about creating for herself, balancing artistic instinct with commercial pressure, working with Quentin Bisch, and why finding your perfect fragrance should involve a little bit of chance.
