Description
This is a Throwback Thursday of absolute epic proportions. 📜 Drop back to 1999 at the Selland Arena for the first-ever IFMA-sanctioned pro FMX event put on by Pace (who also did Supercross and later became Clear Channel).
Before this, there were no major series. It was invite-only. Andy Bell saw an ad in a dirt bike magazine, filled out the form for himself, Reagan S, and me, and next thing you know, three guys from Canada who could ride decent were heading into the history books.
This 90-second behind-the-scenes look shows us pulling in, track building, and trying on our very first major sponsor gear from LBZ.
Keep your eyes peeled for some absolute icons of the sport:
👉 Our old buddy John Distler
👉 My LBZ teammate Clifford "The Flying Hawaiian" Adoptante (giving the Canadians a massive shoutout!)
👉 The legend himself, Micky Dymond, who was literally building the first-ever FMX ramps seen in this video.
When they asked Micky how the Canadians were doing, he said it best: "Come check out your hometown boys, are huckin it big... eh!" 😂🇨🇦
Proud to have been there at day one of the sport we love.
