The 1941 Raid That Crippled Britain’s Battleships

Description

In December 1941, Italian naval commandos carried out one of World War II’s most unusual naval raids. Using manned torpedoes to enter Alexandria Harbor, they placed explosive charges beneath the British battleships HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Valiant, temporarily putting two of the Royal Navy’s most important warships out of action.

This documentary follows the planning, infiltration, and aftermath of the Raid on Alexandria, from the submarine Scirè to the Decima MAS frogmen who carried out the attack. It explores how a small underwater team used skill, endurance, and surprise to strike at British naval power in the Mediterranean — and why the raid remains one of the most successful acts of naval sabotage in modern warfare.
