This episode is one of several unreleased episodes from our adventures from South Western Australia to Northern Scotland by road between 2017 and 2021. Released at the time to our very supportive Patreon community; now for all to view as shot and edited in the back of the Troopy was back then, hopefully filling in a few gaps in the journey. 2018:
THAILAND!! What a relief to get in.
After crossing the border we drove for about 5 hours to the nearest beach and found a nice quiet area to park up for the night. The south of Thailand has been known to be an extremist hotbed, of which was easily confirmed by the fortification around each Police building and roadblocks every 10kms of so. Needless to say we didn't want to hang around!
The following morning we kept driving towards Trang. We found a great place to camp by the beach looking out to the islands. Unfortunately it was quite windy which had turned the water a bit murky so instead of swimming we set the hammock up and spent the afternoon 'hanging' out.
Our next stop is an island a little further north (we could actually see it from our camp spot), Koh Lanta. A quick 15min ferry (not 2 hours as I thought) takes you over before we then followed the road down the west coast to look for a camp spot. A bit off the road we managed to find a great spot on the headland with an amazing view down to the beach. Our new neighbours ie. the primate kind even popped by to welcome us!
As we're here in the off season the beaches are pretty blown out so we decided to walk to a waterfall via a cave. Not the biggest waterfall we've seen though it was a really nice walk through the jungle to get there.
