Zeus the polecat ferreting out his first rabbits. Zeus is a little over a year old and the previous owner had him as a working ferret breeder. After he had finished his work there he came to me to become the channel mascot.
Male ferrets, known as hobs, have long been valued for their role in traditional rabbit hunting, especially in rural areas across the UK. Their natural curiosity, slender build, and strong prey drive make them ideal for entering rabbit warrens and flushing out hidden game. Unlike dogs, ferrets can navigate tight underground tunnels with ease, working silently and efficiently. Hobs are often preferred for their larger size and stamina, which helps them cover more ground during a hunt. With proper handling and training, they become indispensable partners for hunters seeking a sustainable and humane method of pest control.
