Ayana: "It's lovely meeting you! I'm Ayana. I was born and raised in Tanzania, surrounded by my family and tribe. Oh, so many memories that will live long in my heart. Life was beautiful, yet hard. I remember waking up every morning and walk with my mom in the dry riverbed and we would dig for water at least twice a day. It was harder and harder to collect water as every day went by. Extreme weather conditions draught the area and we had to walk long distance paths to have access to a water source. Most of the time, though, the water came from polluted rivers and ponds.
That's why I decided to commit my life to improve sanitation and access to clean water. You see, I like to envision the world as a team. If we work alone, the whole picture is overwhelming and terrifying. But if we work as a team, doing our little part and knowing that people out there are working on theirs, that's what gives us hope for a change.
Climate change disproportionately affects our most disadvantaged and vulnerable population, exacerbating inequalities. That's why I'm devoted to humankind and the wellbeing of our planet. We need you to be part of the world's biggest team. Join us!"
