KJV: "And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house."
- After his time serving in the Temple in Jerusalem was completed,
he returned to his home, setting the stage for his wife Elizabeth
to conceive as promised by the angel Gabriel.
Significance: This verse bridges the supernatural announcement in the temple and the fulfillment of the promise of a child, which occurs shortly after in verses 24-25.
KJV: "And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house."
NIV: "When his time of service was completed, he returned home."
Following this event, Elizabeth conceived and went into seclusion for five months.
