శ్రీకాకుళం జిల్లా పలాసలో చారిత్రక ప్రాధాన్యం కలిగిన శ్రీ జగన్నాథ స్వామి రథయాత్ర వైభవంగా నిర్వహించారు.
సుమారు 110 సంవత్సరాల పాటు గజపతి రాజులు శ్రీకాకుళం ప్రాంతాన్ని పరిపాలించారు. వైష్ణవ సంప్రదాయాన్ని ప్రోత్సహించిన గజపతులు సోంపేట, మందస, పలాస, టెక్కలి, పర్లాకిమిడి తదితర ప్రాంతాల్లో జగన్నాథ స్వామి ఆలయాలను నిర్మించారు.
ప్రతి ఏడాది ఒడిశాలోని పూరీలో జరిగే రథయాత్ర తరహాలోనే పలాసలో కూడా జగన్నాథ స్వామి రథయాత్రను భక్తిశ్రద్ధలతో, వైభవంగా నిర్వహించడం విశేషం. ఈ రథయాత్రలో వేలాది మంది భక్తులు పాల్గొని స్వామివారిని దర్శించుకుని ఆశీర్వాదాలు పొందారు.
