The Southern Mexican gang member from the gang CV70 (Compton Varrio) did this interview while at Soledad State Prison (CTF: Correctional Training Facility) in 1997. He speaks on prison politics, street gang activities, and the cycle of gang membership that is passed down through the generations.
This video is a glimpse into the mentality of a hardcore gang member. This way of thinking leads to a path of self-destruction and death. It is no way to live one’s life. Many gang members will talk of the love they have for their family members, yet their chosen path causes untold pain and suffering to their parents, wives, children, and other relatives. It's ironic to carelessly hurt the very people they claim to love so much.
This type of life will lead to four different places: the grave, a wheelchair, prison, or being an old, shot-out, lonely gang member who proudly speaks of his dead homies to anyone who will listen.
There is hope for gang members who lay down their flag and leave that life behind. Many success stories exist of ex-gang members who became successful after doing that. It's never too late to turn a new leaf and leave that childish and ignorant lifestyle behind.
