More than two weeks into South Carolina's new fiscal year, lawmakers remain at an impasse over the state budget, with disagreements over hundreds of millions of dollars in local spending projects and proposed property tax relief for seniors delaying a final agreement.
Members of the state budget conference committee met for a second consecutive day Wednesday but adjourned without reaching a compromise. Negotiations are expected to resume next week.
