John 'Turbo' Finlay blasts through the Mega Play arcade version of the original Sonic the Hedgehog in this retro SEGA AGES playthrough from Turbo Drive Live. Based on the arcade adaptation of Sonic’s Mega Drive debut, this version adds subtle changes designed for arcade play while retaining the speed, loops and iconic level design that launched SEGA’s mascot into gaming history. From Green Hill Zone to the final showdown with Dr. Robotnik, Turbo revisits one of the most important platformers ever made in a unique arcade form many players never experienced.
About the Game:
Originally released in 1991 for the Mega Drive/Genesis, Sonic the Hedgehog introduced SEGA’s blue mascot and helped define the 16-bit era. The Mega Play arcade version later adapted the game for SEGA’s Mega Play arcade hardware, altering aspects of gameplay progression and presentation for coin-op environments. This particular version was later re-released as part of the SEGA AGES line for Nintendo Switch, developed by M2 with additional features and modern enhancements.
