A looooong time ago, a younger, hairier Eli accidentally created a little speck of bronze when he tried seeing if he could melt a piece of copper pipe in the same container that he'd been melting street signs in.
This memory has remained dormant in the recesses of my mind until now. Fully bald and capable of incredible feats of low precision, amateur smithing and smelting, today I finish out the quest I began long ago.
Well, not today. This is part 1. Pretty soon though. Sub to see a spear or something.
Today we're smelting aluminum bronze, affectionately known as "Nordic Gold", an extremely beautiful and incredibly tough member of the bronze family. If you can pull off a good casting, it's one of the most effective forms of bronze for weapon smithing, due to near-steel levels of toughness and advanced corrosion resistance. Happy to say, I pulled off the smelt pretty easily... The true challenge is yet to come.
