Today I'm doing some Florida sheepshead fishing from shore using fiddler crabs along a seawall in Sarasota. I had about three dozen fiddler crabs left over from my recent camping trip, so I decided to head back to one of my favorite spots to see if I could sight cast some sheepshead cruising the structure.
The water was clear enough to spot fish moving along the seawall, which made it possible to watch for them and drop a bait right in front of them. In this video I share some tips on sight casting sheepshead from shore, how I rig and present a fiddler crab, and why seawalls can be great places to find these fish.
If you're targeting sheepshead from the bank, docks, bridges, or seawalls, learning how to spot where the fish are holding and getting the bait in front of them can make a big difference. Fiddler crabs are one of the best natural baits for sheepshead, and when you find the right structure the action can be a lot of fun.
