Shake It Off (3 Minute Version) (Sam's Dramatic Version) (From the Vault)

The Real Sam Walton Video 4 years ago

Description

I covered a song the only way I know how.

What a long strange trip it's been. Hard to believe it's been the better part of f o u r y e a r s since I last uploaded anything. Time has flown by.

Every YouTuber and their mother asks you to "ring the notification bell" so you'll know when they upload something new - but for mine you totally should! Will it be three days? Three years? Three decades until the next drop? Who knows. If you've followed this channel for any amount of time you know how many times I've said I'm coming back to producing content, and... well, you've seen how that's panned out. So I'm not going to bother making any promises now.

I actually created another channel two years ago and posted exactly one (1) video to it. (It's still up, try and find it if you so desire!) At the time, I again thought I was going to dive into regular content creation, and part of me wanted to do that on a completely fresh platform - for two reasons. For one, I knew that it wouldn't be the kind of content that the current ~50k (and steadily declining) subscribers on this channel were here for. But part of me also just wanted to see if I could do it all over again. In hindsight, I'm not entirely sure why.

But I had an epiphany recently and remembered that at the end of the day, this is my channel. It was a creative outlet for everything under the sun long before I moved to Germany, and the channel name is the social media moniker that I use across the internet. The reality is that I just can't put out the kind of content that I used to, and if I don't post to this channel any more because of that fact, I'd probably never post anything here again. And what good does that do anyone?

Posting to another channel felt like hiding, in a way. And it didn't feel right. If I'm going to put something effort into something and unleash it on the world, I might as well commit to it and put it here, under my personal brand. That's what this channel always has been, and always will be until either YouTube dies or I do - an extension of myself. As such, it's going to change with time - so I fully understand that people will come and go as they see fit. I, however, am stuck with myself for likely the next 60 years and am doing my best to act accordingly.

I'm here to entertain, educate, and inspire in any way that I can. The real joy to me in making things is knowing that it's entirely worth it if just one person's life is made a little bit better. So I'll keep doing my thing; you're free to do yours. And if your thing is mcSlappin' that "unsubscribe" button, I wish you tschuss, adieu, auf wiedersehen, and best of luck in all your endeavors out there in this strange new world we've created.

*sam out* :')
