Learn Sue’s award-winning machine appliqué technique as you create this small appliqué project featuring a beautiful tropical bird. Start by preparing your appliqué pieces using fusible web. Next, learn the details of the blanket stitch to secure the edges of your prepared pieces, including curves, points, circles, complex units, bias stems, and more. This cute quilt will be a great reminder of your Caribbean adventure. Sue will bring a few of her appliqué quilts using this technique to show. A kit will include everything you need to complete the quilt top.
Tropical Trip Around the World (2 Day)
Learn a fun method for piecing the Trip Around the World pattern and easy machine quilting using Sue’s straight-line ruler. On Day One, piece the front of the tote using colorful batik fabrics. On Day Two, machine quilt the front and back, then construct your tote. Take home a special memory of your travels in the tropics and two great techniques for future projects! Sue will share her inspirational quilts that showcase the Trip Around the World design and use her techniques.
