Annelle Sheline, a former State Department official who resigned in protest of the Biden administration’s policy on Gaza, tells TRT World that the Democratic Party should hold an election to appoint new congressional leaders.
Sheline says Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer, who are expected to become Speaker of the House and Senate majority leader, respectively, have already been “quite loyal to AIPAC”.
“I hope every presidential candidate, everyone eyeing a run for the presidency in 2028, is recognising that taking money from the Israel lobby is a losing proposition,” Sheline added.
