Description
I regularly buy postage online at both the FedEx and USPS websites. For USPS, only Priority and Express postage can be purchased online. I wanted to explore Stamps.com for more USPS postage options which was a big mistake! I did enter my credit card data when asked but there was absolutely NO warning on the Stamps.com website that I was signing up for a $15.99 per month charge. When i check the company credit card I notice many $15.99 charge from Stamps.com.
I immediately called them and it took me over 30 minutes on the phone with them to get this straightened out. I was very clear from the beginning with the first person I spoke to that I had not agreed to a monthly charge and that I wanted an immediate credit from them. He wasted over 10 minutes of my time trying to sell me the service before he told me that he was not authorized to return my money. I was then transferred to the second person for a similar experience - after wasting several minutes, she told me that she was not authorized to return my money.
My patience was gone, my voice was loud, and I was promising a small claims court filing the next day when I finally was transferred to the third person who, after several wasted minutes, told me my money would be returned. I refused to hang up until I received an email from her confirming the refund. I make frequent online transactions and this is the first time I have run into such a scam.
