Description
This is a common money-saving hack that a LOT of RVers use - going to Los Algodones for dental, vision, and meds. Here you'll meet Miguel who invites you into Fortuna Dental but will also escort you anywhere you'd like to go. To visit Los Algodones, park just before the border ($6) and walk across. Be sure to bring your passport or enhanced license to get back. Algodones runs on "Yuma time", which is MST all year long and most places are closed by 4:00 pm. Everywhere takes US $ (and there's an ATM in the parking lot before you cross) and almost everyone speaks English, making it a great introduction to Mexico. You don't have to have an appointment for most places.
I like to go for taco lunch (Birriera el Paisa, or, if they are closed, Molcas Tacos) and then walk back across. The line to return can be long, so be ready to wait.
