Wow what a time to be alive, Rut is premiering tomorrow! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJP5_ssr54w I had a really great time working on this part, despite moving three times, getting covid twice, leaving two jobs, taking on three others, losing a friend and meeting someone special. The last four years have been a bit insane, but I am glad that I never gave up on this part, and that the community did not give up on the project either.
Brightheart is one of my favorite characters ever in warriors, I share a similar disability with her in lifelong unilateral hearing loss, and I too survived a nearly lethal attack from a dog when I was young. Getting to see her not only find acceptance in her clan with a full breadth of lifelong relationships was deeply meaningful as a kid, but also to see her accept herself over time in the books has meant a lot to me as an adult. Getting to animate a part in a project that celebrates her choosing not to give up on herself was both exciting and humbling from start to finish.
