This video series, “Mainely Resilient: How Maine Farmers Stay Profitable,” highlights Maine farms using U.S. Department of Agriculture programs to manage farm risk.

In this video, Chris Howard, University of Maine Cooperative Extension, speaks with Emily Dickinson, co-founder and CEO of Mousam Valley Mushrooms in Springvale, Maine. Dickinson discusses how the farm uses private crop insurance and disaster relief programs to strengthen its business.

She also highlights:

- Establishing a good relationship with the USDA, including the Farm Service Agency
- Keeping good records
- Maintaining Good Agricultural Practices and organic certifications
- Working with other farms to strengthen markets
