In Oakland California we're introduced to a family leaving their 3 year olds "Red Egg & ginger" party. A young Black father named Reggie is completely oblivious to how he botched a traditional Chinese event important to his Asian-American wife. June will one-up Reggies mistake with her lack of understanding her husbands Black experience. In the heat of an argument Reggie leaves to reach out to his father and meets him at his fencing club. Even then Reggie doesn't get the validation he desperately seeks. We'll witness a married couple fighting for their toddler to know and understand their cultures fully.

DIRECTOR STATEMENT:
Before my son's red egg and ginger, me and my wife had a few talks about race and culture. We discussed what food best represents our unique family, how we educate on the parties' meaning and what life looks like for our Afro-Asian toddler. Even though these were serious conversations to us we were very calm as these thoughts can be sobering for interacial parents. This specific story hasn't been told before and I would love the world to enter into the minds of an African American man and Chinese American woman as they navigate raising a bi-racial child. You'll find that conversations are much different than a lot of Americans, but you'll also find surprising similarities in what you see in every marriage.
