If the sender added dots to your address, you'll still get that email. No one else sees your emails, and no one can take your account. For example, if your email is testjohnnyericm@gmail.com, you own all dotted versions of your address:
test.johnnyericm@gmail.com
test.johnny.eric.m@gmail.com
t.e.s.t.j.o.h.n.n.y.e.r.i.c.m@gmail.com
If you still think the message was meant for someone else, contact the sender to let them know they mistyped the email address.
Note: If you use Gmail through work, school, or other organization (like yourdomain.com or yourschool.edu), dots do change your address. To change the dots in your username, contact your admin.
