So the great Ported vs Sealed Debate - just wanted to have a little input on the matter here with a real simple test of 2 boxes both with 2 cubic ft internal volume same subs/amp/power/car etc
and a sub that Focal recommends for only sealed enclosures
Now just to add the reason I tuned the ported box at 30hz was to make a flatter response over my desired range (25hz-50hz) if I was going for maximum spl it would have been tuned much closer to the 48Hz the cabin peaks at but that would be a very peaky box with no low end control
what i've ended up with now tho is a very musical enclosure
