Welcome to the PlayVersation Preview with Heidi Joubert.
For years, I've wanted to start a podcast. I just never knew exactly what form it should take. Then, during a recent collaboration session with the incredible drummer Marco Müller (Muete, Ina Müller, Santiano) in Hamburg, something unexpected happened.
As we played together, we began talking about rhythm, listening, creativity, drums, cajon, and the musical conversation that happens between musicians. The discussion flowed so naturally in and out of the music that I suddenly realized: without planning it, I had started my very first podcast.
Or perhaps more accurately... a PlayVersation.
In a PlayVersation, the conversation doesn't only happen through words—it also happens through music. We chat, we play, we listen, we respond, and we explore ideas together in real time.
This short video is an 8-minute preview from our first full 40-minute PlayVersation, which will be released next week. In this excerpt, we explore one of the most important skills in music: listening to each other.
How do musicians communicate without speaking? What happens when we truly listen? And what can drums and cajon teach us about conversation itself?
