The phrase “musician’s musician” is often used when talking about Juraj Stanik. Highly respected by fellow musicians, he has yet to reach a wider audience. Still, he tours internationally, giving concerts and masterclasses, and teaches at the Royal Conservatoire.

His album Juraj Stanik – Dream Sequence (2025) has received widespread critical acclaim.
For this session, Juraj Stanik is joined by bassist Frans van der Hoeven, drummer Joost van Schaik, and special guest, master guitarist Jesse van Ruller.
Van Ruller is considered one of the leading jazz guitarists of his generation. In 1995, he became the first European to win the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Guitar Competition.
It has been over twenty years since the North Sea Jazz Festival left The Hague. But now, the city has a new jazz festival: New Tide.
For our session, recorded in the rehearsal space of the Residentie Orkest at Amare in The Hague, pianist Juraj Stanik was the first to take the stage.
