Stepping into the studio at ATL News First for ATL Live Extra on the actual opening day of the World Cup games is wild.
When I sat down to write "UMOJA," I did it with one massive goal in mind—I wrote it to be the official theme song for the World Cup. I wanted to create something that could truly match the energy of the global stage, a reminder that what brings us together is always going to be stronger than what divides us.
Because that was the whole vision from day one, being able to perform it to help kick off the games means everything to me. To see that vision start to manifest and to share a song about unity on the literal opening day of the tournament is just an incredible feeling.
A huge thank you to Ava and Savannah for having me on the show and giving this anthem a platform, and to Tim for always grinding behind the scenes to make these moments happen. 🙏🏽
