Our Renovation Plans in our ‘new but old’ home 🏡…
We moved into our 200 year old+ house a few weeks ago and I’ve had a few people ask me what are our renovation plans going to be?
We bought this house as a renovation project, we loved renovating our old house over the 9 years we lived there, and we both always wanted to live in an old character home.
However it’s not going to be a quick one. We aren’t in a rush, we want to take our time and live in the house for a while before making any big changes, plus we are also budgeting as we go, so it’s going to be a slow, considered restoration over the years.
There is lots to do though, actually so much to do at times it feels a little overwhelming on how to actually even begin planning.
Every single room is going to need maintenance, love and attention, possible lime replastering, flooring, I think the electrics need some work, as does the outside, the walls, the windows, the roof etc. There’s possible damp, repairs etc and all the other things that come with owning an old home. I could go on but you get the idea.
For now the immediate plan is to enjoy the summer in the garden which is all bringing us so much joy, with possibly a little side project as I’d like to tweak some bits in the kitchen until we can afford to get it done properly.
Then the first room we would like to do properly is our living room, but we’ve not even really begun thinking about what we want. I’d love to get that done by the end of the year but I’m not putting time frames on anything.
It’s so exciting though, this house has such a lovely feel to it, and we are so grateful to be the ones to have a chance to cherish it for a short period in its history.
