White typically plays the English Opening (1.c4) in hopes of a controlled edge in a slower, strategic game. Black has many viable replies (1...c5, 1...e5, 1...Nf6, 1...e6 1...c6, etc.), and here against Evaline Zugzwang (2237) I select the flexible 1...g6. Evaline elects to combine c2-c4 with e2-e4 ala the Botvinnik System, and I'm quite happy to swap light-square bishop for knight on f3, playing for control of the pivotal d4 square. Despite Black's apparent grip, this saga is just getting started. There are a plethora of instructive details in this 1+ hour video!
