It was an eventful evening on the WCML yesterday afternoon and into the evening, as a lineside fire at Acton Bridge caused havoc, not least for the Vintage Trains 'The Cathedrals Express to Liverpool' charter.
After extended hold ups at #Huyton and #WarringtonBankQuay the service finally arrived into Crewe some 228 minute late! The decision was made to run 37240 round the set and run direct to #BirminghamNewStreet where they finally arrived 182 minutes down.
A long and stressful journey for both staff and passengers alike, but it's worth noting that these situations are completely out of the hands of the staff and train operator.
