NBA 2K27 has a lot of potential, but right now there are several major gameplay problems that 2K NEEDS to address.
In this video, I’m breaking down everything I believe needs to be fixed in NBA 2K27 — from driving dunks and standing dunks, to defense, shot contests, steals, half-court shots, unfair advantages, build balance and more.

Driving dunks need a buff and honestly should never have been hit this hard in the first place. Standing dunks needed some balancing, but finishing still has to reward players who actually invest heavily into those attributes.
Defense also needs to become rewarding again. The contest system needs a serious buff, especially because good defense should still give legitimate players a way to compete against players using external assistance. If you time a contest perfectly, cut someone off, or make the right defensive read, the game should reward you.
Steals also need another look. Lane steals can stay where they are, but on-ball and blitz steals currently feel too random. A perfectly timed blitz should actually matter.
And when it comes to ridiculous half-court shots, I’m actually recommending 2K add some RNG. No human player should be able to consistently hit those shots over and over, and that kind of distance should never become a reliable weapon for automated timing.
We also need to talk about major patches changing builds after players have already spent VC. If 2K dramatically changes how certain attributes perform, players should have some kind of build rework or refund option.
