My Truck Didn’t Start So I Did This!! #mechanic #automotive #truck

Description

My 1995 GMC Suburban GMT400 didn’t start so I fixed it!

I used a volt meter to test for DC voltage and got only 10.4 volts. This was after jump starting the battery and driving the vehicle the day before. With this voltage, it makes sense to me that one of the cells in the battery has failed. At 9 years old the battery was due for replacement anyway AND I could certainly sense that over the last year.

I removed the battery and returned it to Costco to receive the $15 core credit and purchased a replacement of the same group size 78. After installing the new battery and making sure the connections were tight the truck started right up.

Also, in this video, I show some preventative maintenance on the steel battery tray that is prone to corrosion. I first cleaned it with WD-40 and then gave it some long term protection with Fluid Film.
