We began our journey toward Chitta Katha Lake, one of the most mesmerizing alpine lakes in Azad Kashmir, early in the morning from the beautiful Domail. The path ahead was long and demanding, but the excitement in our hearts pushed us forward. Surrounded by towering peaks and thick pine forests, the trail kept unfolding surprises at every turn.
The trek was filled with raw beauty—narrow wooden bridges, fresh glacial streams, and the sound of nature echoing through the valleys. After hours of climbing steep rocky paths, crossing meadows, and taking deep breaths under the thinning air, we caught our first glimpse of Chitta Katha Lake—and it truly left us speechless.
Set at an altitude of around 13,500 feet, this emerald-blue lake sits quietly under the shadow of Haramosh Peak, with reflections so clear it feels unreal. The place had an almost sacred stillness to it. Clouds floated low, the wind whispered, and for a few moments, everything else just faded away.
Unlike crowded tourist destinations, Chitta Katha feels untouched and wild. It’s not an easy trek—but that's what makes it worth it. The silence, the solitude, and the sheer scale of the landscape remind you how small you are in front of nature.
If you're looking for a real adventure, something that pushes your limits and rewards you with scenes straight out of a fantasy movie, this is it. Kashmir is full of wonders, but this one truly stands above the rest.
