Description
Metra Commuter Trains in the Chicagoland area, during the Winter of January/February 2026. Winter is in full swing in the Chicagoland area, but that's no problem for the trains!
We start in Downtown Chicago high above the Metra/BNSF 14th Street Coach Yard, and Amtrak Chicago Railyard. Various Metra BNSF Line and Southwest Service Trains are seen entering and exiting the Chicago Union Station throat tracks. Also included are various scenic views of the Metra Coach Yard, the historic St Charles Air Line Bridge, and the Pennsylvania Railroad bridge over the frozen Chicago River.
Next up, we'll go ground level and visit the Milwaukee District West and Union Pacific Northwest Lines, and see some of Metra's newest EMD SD70MACH locomotives. We then head South, and explore the Rock Island Line and Beverly Branch.
Traveling back north, we go back up to the always busy Tower A-2 Interlocking, near the Metra Western Avenue yard, and the Metra California Avenue yard. Rounding things off, we see some trains at CP Morgan, in Downtown Chicago.
