ABOUT THIS VIDEO
I’m in South Melbourne in Naarm with Emma Cutting, founder of Heartscapes (https://www.heartscapes.org.au), discovering more about their Melbourne Pollinator Corridor project and visiting some of the fabulous micro street gardens.
Heartscapes has already established 53 gardens, transforming degraded urban sites into gardens of buzzing, wriggling beauty, and reconnecting people with nature right in the middle of the city.
The corridor runs from the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne to Westgate Park, around eight kilometres as the crow flies. This is not only about a wildlife corridor. It is also about strengthening communities of humans, fauna, flora and fungi, and remembering that we are nature wherever we are.
If you are in Melbourne, you can volunteer. If you are elsewhere, you can still learn from the resources and support the work from afar. Heartscapes is currently running an end of year campaign aiming to raise 30k, and they are a registered charity so donations are tax deductible.
