Description

On June 18, 2026, at approximately 5:37 p.m., LVMPD’s Fusion Watch Center received an
automated license plate reader notification of a stolen vehicle near Flamingo Road and Linq Lane.

An LVMPD Drone along with patrol officers were dispatched to the area and were able to locate the stolen vehicle near Spring Mountain Road and Interstate 15.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver, later identified as 53-year-old Shane Hansen, refused to stop and fled at a high rate of speed. Hansen started driving recklessly and a vehicle pursuit was authorized. The pursuit continued into North Las Vegas where the car came to a stop in the 500 block of Miller Avenue. Hansen and two other occupants fled from the vehicle on foot.

The LVMPD Air Unit, located Hansen hiding near a mobile home in the area. The Air Unit was able to guide officers to his location, and they observed Hansen holding a firearm. Officers gave Hansen numerous verbal commands to drop the firearm, but he refused. He then raised the gun toward the officers, causing them to discharge their firearms, striking him multiple times. Medical personnel were requested and despite their efforts, Hansen was pronounced decease at the scene.

The other two individuals who fled from the vehicle were taken into custody without incident.
Thankfully, no officers or additional citizens were injured during this incident.
