Testing the strength and precision of my DIY cross slide power feed on a small lathe. I face a large aluminum angle that barely fits in the chuck. The material was poorly cut before, so I’m squaring it up with high accuracy. Despite the size and imbalance, the custom motorized feed system handles it smoothly with minimal spindle speed, excellent rigidity, and no vibrations.
