WHAT DO THE NUMBERS MEAN?
Kp 5+ = geomagnetic storm (G1–G5). The higher the Kp, the further south aurora can be seen
Bz negative (southward) = Earth's magnetic shield is "open" — aurora more likely
M and X class flares can cause radio blackouts and launch CMEs toward Earth
