Labor & delivery - part one

Description

The beginning of our labor & delivery journey

Labor didn’t start the way I was hoping it would. With this probably being my last baby. I really wanted a minimal intervention, no medication birthing process. Which I knew I could do because of a failed epidural in the past. But the moment the Dr said they were sending me directly to the hospital and they didn’t want me going home with Logan to grab our bags first. I knew they were wanting to induce me and have him out ASAP. All for valid concerns : low amniotic fluid - but my water was intact and I was not leaking amniotic fluid, decreased fetal movement, high blood pressure- which was consistently in the low / normal range at the hospital. So something in me still felt like he was doing ok, I was ok and I wanted to wait. A bit of fear then crept in when I realized at the hospital they were direct admitting me and were not going to monitor us in triage first. Then once I walked in the room and it didn’t have a laboring tub I knew things really weren’t going my way.
They hooked us up to monitors and got started with the labor prep things. Asking all the questions, placing an IV and she ordered me a dinner since we had planned to go out for a date night dinner after the Dr appt so I was huuuuungry. I got to the hospital around 4:45pm. The administered half tablet of a cervix ripening medication around 7pm. Because again I was 3 cms and not soft or effaced at all. My husband arrived around 7:45pm and we both tried to rest waiting for the contractions to start. Some sporadic cramping and contractions started a little after 9pm.

I’ll leave the rest for part two …

Will upload the full daily pregnancy vlog and birth vlog to my YT if you would rather watch it in continuance rather than broken up.

Birth story, hospital birth, 5th baby, labor and delivery, induction, low amniotic fluid, decreased fetal movement, high blood pressure, high risk pregnancy
