We start by listening in on a recent message at St. Mary's Cathedral in Portland OR for the celebration of the feast of Corpus Christi. After reflecting upon the degree to which "Biblical literalism" can be taken to such an astounding extreme, we will then turn our attention to the topic of the "thousand years" mentioned in Revelation 20, and the matter of the so-called "millennial reign", which is featured prominently in Dispensationalist eschatology, and now increasingly in the hyper-speculative "Little Season" theory which claims that Jesus already ruled the earth for a thousand years, and was actually the true architect of the Vatican's prized cathedrals...
I decided to then read a rather significant portion from chapter 15 of Philip Mauro's fantastic book, "Of Things Which Soon Must Come to Pass", which focuses on the 20th chapter of Revelation and the subject of the millennial generally, as it relates to other pertinent scriptures.
I pray that this effort, though somewhat laborious, might help us all better understand a very crucial aspect of Bible prophecy that I have only recently begun to feel like I really am able to understand, and the joy that it has unleashed in my appreciation of the precious Truth of Jesus, living in us, is something I hope to share with as many who are willing to investigate the matter.
