'What Does't Suck' has always been about real travel. Real places. Real moments. Missed flights, sketchy taxis, long nights, and those quiet in-between experiences you don’t plan for.
That hasn’t changed.
This video isn’t an AI documentary by any means, but every story in it is 100% real. Every scene is based on something I actually lived, remembered as honestly as possible, much of it together with Anne, and inspired directly by my adventure travel memoir, Jet Lag Junkie: Unfiltered Tales of a Compulsive Wanderer".

Over the past two months, I’ve been experimenting with AI filmmaking to see if it could tell a story differently, not better, not “instead of,” just another way. This is a condensed visual version of my adventure travel memoir Jet Lag Junkie, built from the same trips and experiences you’ve seen on this channel for years.
I won’t pretend this feels normal because if 100% doesn’t, but as someone with a degree in visual journalism and documentary filmmaking, and as a busy Dad, these tools allowed me to dive back into storytelling as we've done on this channel for years, just from behind my desk this time.
AI is messy. It’s imperfect. Sometimes it gets things very wrong. And translating something deeply human like travel, memory, emotion into this format took far more trial and error than I expected. But that friction was kind of the point and taught me a tremendous amount.
This isn’t about replacing travel filmmaking. That will never happen, I am confident. It is about experimenting with new ways to tell stories, especially for people who never had access to traditional tools in the first place.
If you’ve been watching this channel for years: thank you for sticking around, even when things take a left turn. This is still rooted in the same journeys, the same curiosity, and the same love of getting lost somewhere unfamiliar and coming out better on the other side.
